Society members may be interested to know that there are two immediate problems needing to be tackled at Edgar Wood’s Long Street Methodist Church and School.
The first is the tall chimney which serves as a focal point desperately needs repointing. Greater Manchester Building Preservation Trust has submitted a bid to Historic England for the repair of this and is hopeful for a positive outcome.
The other problem is a blocked rainwater drain at the back of the Edgar Wood Rooms (former school) which is backing up into the building. Where the blockage is, has yet to be discovered.
